Re: “I'd call that a damn good result for Speaker Johnson.”Yup. A huge win for the Republican Speaker. He got every Democrat but one to vote for it.

*sniff* *sniff* I smell fish. Perhaps it's because a shutdown now would have reflected badly on Joe Biden and the Democrats. Now it will be pushed down the road a piece (I haven't seen how far) onto President Trump.

The bill, which needed approval from two-thirds of the chamber, passed overwhelmingly in a 366 to 34 vote.

The differences between this and the (yesterday) clean CR bill:

1."Trump wanted a debt limit increase, and now we're bringing the exact same bill to the floor without the debt limit increase," Massie said. Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky.

2. just over $100 billion in disaster relief aid for victims of storms Helene and Milton,

3. as well as assistance for the agriculture industry.

I'd call that a damn good result for Speaker Johnson.
