Re: “I personally think if ya want really great ones import them from Germany.”
As long as Musk doesn't start suggesting that we bring in engineers from GREECE, I'm not going to question his judgement. Musk is a pretty smart guy, and he's worked with plenty of engineers. I do know that almost all of the CPUs over the last thirty years were developed in India, not here. Part of that is because of the low salaries but I'm sure another part is that, on average, the Asians (and Jews) have slightly higher IQs than Caucasians. I'm not too concerned, though. "Smart" is more than just IQ. It's also ambition, memory and creativity.

What are Ramaswamy and Musk saying in their bashing?

I know quite a few exceptionally brilliant engineering types in different disciplines. Musk apparently does not realize that very few IQ gifted people as a percentage of population exist.

I see where he is coming from with the lack of studies in mathematics, science disciplines, and engineering studies.

And our institutional focus on being racially correct instead of focusing on Academics..

There are few people like Elon. Sure, due to its very large population India will have more people who could become engineers of various types.

I personally think if ya want really great ones import them from Germany.

MIT is no slouch in producing exceptional engineers nor Purdue University or lots of other institutions who focus on Engineering like Georgia Tech and small colleges like Cedarville University regularly beat the large schools in competitions every year.

So I disagree with those guys. Israeli engineers of all types are mind blowing as well. I was in awe of a Physicist..

So, I disagree with Elon and Ramaswamy. I think that is a very brash and not well thought out comment.

Was Stephen Hawking sub par as well? While he is on the top of the top shelf my point is there is not a shortage of good engineering grad students.
