Wildfires burn out of control across Los Angeles area and kill 5 as thousands flee homes
Massive wildfires roaring through the Los Angeles area left neighborhoods in ruins, killing at least five people and threatening landmarks made famous by Hollywood.
The closet fire to us, the Eaton fire, near Pasadena, is 38 miles away (as the crow flies). The other fires in L.A. County are all better than 50 miles away. And the wind is blowing in a direction where we can hardly even see the smoke let alone smell it.
