DE>>> Is that a common thing? I thought snow in Dallas was about as rare as snow in Miami.

Not rare ... seldom - but it usually snows at least once per year.

Last time it snowed in Miami -??? Jan 1977 ???
That was the year when a required carbonate geology field trip (required for a Texas A&M geophysics degree) went to Miami and the Keys. It was so cold we had to rent wet-suits for the breath-hold dives we took (15'-30') to see the carbonate formations - and one two tank dive off a dive boat. That was rough - 4-6' swells in a 20' boat - got sicker'n a dog with motion sickness - but was wonderful anyway. The divemaster 'wowwed' us with feeding a moray eel with a small fish he held between his teeth.

Up to 8 inches for Dallas. 3 inches for Atlanta.

Is that a common thing? I thought snow in Dallas was about as rare as snow in Miami.
