Homeowners in Los Angeles are confronting a growing sense of fear and frustration as they deal with a string of devastating wildfires. Tensions escalated when a man, believed to be an arsonist, was reportedly confronted by residents who suspected him of starting one of the fires that have ravaged their neighborhoods. As the authorities investigate, local celebrities and public figures have fueled a wave of firebug theories, amplifying suspicions that some devastating fires may not have resulted from natural causes. Caught on video, a group of vigilant Los Angeles citizens took matters into their own hands after they noticed a man trying to start a fire in their neighborhood with a blowtorch. According to KTLA, the man appeared to be attempting to set multiple Christmas trees and garbage near the area of Arcos Drive and Galendo Street in the Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles on fire. He was holding a torch head and a yellow fuel tank when at least five residents tackled the man to the ground. This occurred around the same time as the Kenneth Fire, which ignited Thursday in the San Fernando Valley and has since spread into the West Hills.

Renata Grinshpun told the outlet she was sitting in her backyard when she heard a car suddenly halt. She then heard a man yell, “Stop! Drop what you’re holding! Neighbors, he’s trying to start a fire! Call 911!” “We really banded together as a group,” Gringshpun said. “A few gentlemen surrounded him and got him on his knees. They got some zip ties, a rope, and we were able to do a citizens’ arrest.”
Police authorities suggested the man may be linked to the Kenneth Fire. However, nothing has been confirmed as of yet. A Los Angeles law enforcement source tells Fox News Digital that when massive fires break out, such as the ones ravaging the city, it is not uncommon for “wind conditions like this [to] bring out the serial arsonists.”
