ty, Zim and ribit. You both diplomatically oiled the broiling waters.

The female pilot's identity was withheld AT THE REQUEST OF THE FAMILY. Seeing the outlash at the previously UNINVOLVED female Armed Services person, no one in their right mind would wish to cope with that kind of crap while grieving over the loss of their quite accomplished and honorable daughter, who served with distinction.

I find it far more interesting that not a single thing is known/published about the controller - just that his voice is male. Was he a DEI hire - and, if so, what type of 'D' was he ?

How 'bout we START with his name - since the name of the female command pilot was so damned important to so many ?

Two KEY WORDS from the voice recorder (airliner):
TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC automated announcement by system in cockpit immediately preceeding 'crew verbal reaction' (oh shit!!!?) and plane increasing pitch (turning descent into ascent), then impact sounds about 1 second later, and then the end of all recording.

CTJ, The 'new york times' is NOT a credible news source. And has not been for some time now.

I find it quite possible - maybe even probable - that the nyt is trying to divert attention away from the possibly DEI inspired problems in the air traffic control system.

One source I read said there were not enough controllers in the tower that night. That there was supposed to be one guy monitoring and managing helicopters and another guy doing planes. And that night they had one guy trying to do the work of two guys - both helicopters and planes. (One guy trying to do the job of two . . . and if he was a 'plane guy' without sufficient 'helicopter training' . . well . . something will almost certainly fall between the cracks.)

And as I keep trying to point out - it IS the controllers job to ensure all the aircraft stay where they are supposed to be. And if a collision alarm goes off that should become an immediate priority. Both those facets of their jobs were obviously not done that night.

Zim.
