That's interesting. A lot of Alaska is not frozen over all year round and some of it is not frozen at all.

My childhood neighbor and friend to this day moved to Alaska to the interior and lived there for about 20 years.
He was a meteorologist for the Navy and he stayed there after he fulfilled his obligations.

He lived in a valley in between a couple of mountain ranges and a large river flowing though it.

He finally moved to the continental states again. Minnesota just north of Minneapolis.

He must like the cold.

Micro > De could tell ya the benefits of real cold for a long time does for the insects.


Funny.
While I was in the Army in Alaska . . .
One would have thought that that long, bitter cold, Alaskan winter would kill ALL bugs . . .
And yet them Alaskan Mosquitoes was so big and bad our 'Red-Eye' (anti-aircraft missile) section could use them for targetting practice.
