Check Them Off: In Just Over 2 Weeks, Trump Has Completed Most of His Campaign Platform

The first 17 days of President Donald Trump’s second term have been nothing short of historic, analysts say.

“I think this is comparable to the full presidencies of other Presidents and those who’ve preceded him in the Oval Office,” Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton told Just the News.

President Donald Trump signed dozens of executive orders on Day One of his second term. “Certainly the first term I thought was consequential. His first two weeks have been as consequential as any presidency, certainly as Reagan’s was in terms of government reform and oversight and the idea that we’re now talking about curtailing, in significant ways, the size of federal employment officials that work for the taxpayer, for the first time in 40 years.”

Just the News compiled promises that are on the Trump campaign’s official platform page that he has delivered on in those 17 days:

Sealing the border and stopping the invasion of illegal aliens

Hours after being inaugurated, Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border. Construction on the partially-completed border wall has resumed and the CBP One app has been taken offline. United States Coast Guardsmen, Marines, and other soldiers have emerged to aid Border Patrol. On Wednesday, Trump’s newly sworn-in Attorney General Pam Bondi directed the Department of Justice to withhold all federal funding for sanctuary cities.

The largest deportation operation in U.S. history

On Jan. 24, the first deportation flights flew back to their home countries. The nations of Cuba, Haiti and Guatemala have already received repatriation flights of their citizens with the latter agreeing on Wednesday to increase deportation flights by another 40%. Flights to Guantanamo Bay carrying the worst of detained criminal aliens have begun.

Make America the world’s dominant energy producer

Trump’s Inauguration Day Executive Order, “Unleashing American Energy”, encourages energy exploration in our energy and resource-rich country. Trump aims to establish the U.S. as a leading producer of non-fuel minerals, creating jobs and prosperity that strengthens America’s stability at home and national security across the globe.

Large tax cuts for workers and no tax on tips

Trump has been working closely with Republicans on Capitol Hill to ensure these measures, along with ending taxes on overtime hours and Social Security benefits, which are also included in the forthcoming budget reconciliation bill.

End the weaponization of government against the American people

This was high on the priority list for Trump. On Inauguration Day, he signed the “Ending the Weaponization of the Federal Government“ Executive Order which applies to not only presidents and elected officials, but to all Americans. All Americans should feel that the scales of justice are weighted equally.

Strengthen and modernize the military

The “Prioritizing Military Excellence and Readiness” Executive Order was signed by Trump on Jan. 27. The order’s purpose is stated as protecting “the American people and our homeland as the world’s most lethal and effective fighting force…for the sake of our Nation and the patriotic Americans who volunteered to serve it, military service must be reserved for those mentally and physically fit for duty…it is the policy of the United States government to establish high standards for troop readiness, lethality, cohesion, honesty, humility, uniformity, and integrity.”

Keep men out of women’s sports

On Wednesday, Trump signed the “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” Executive Order, protecting women and girls in their chosen field of competition. The order states that, “in recent years, many educational institutions and athletic associations have allowed men to compete in women’s sports. This is demeaning, unfair, and dangerous to women and girls, and denies women and girls the equal opportunity to participate and excel in competitive sports.” Pointing directly to Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972, the policy of the United States is now to rescind all funds from educational programs that deprived women and girls of fair athletic opportunities.

Secure elections

Trump is supportive of multiple proposed pieces of legislation to secure U.S. elections, including requiring voter ID, instituting same-day voting and paper ballots, and requiring proof of citizenship in order to vote.

South Carolina Republican Rep. Ralph Norman, a member of the House Rules and Budget Committees, told Just the News he is confident his GOP colleagues in both chambers are going to pass legislation that makes permanent the Trump agenda.

“Since 2017 we wanted to pass President Trump’s agenda, which is deportation, fully funding the military, funding the tax cuts and Jobs Act. We want to fund that. And you know, it’s just a real relief that now we’re not just talking about it, but we’re doing it. And I think the House will have a resolution very soon. The budget will and I think, I think the American people are going to be proud of it,” Norman said.

Norman also expressed optimism that the current Congress is on course for a deal as early as next week to slash as much as $2 trillion in spending over the next decade.
