would not a dense cloud cover help trap the heat to some extent from the sun's rays?

Obviously on a reasonably clear day and the sun is shining brightly ya can go out and feel that warmth, at least here.

Feels good as well. That said, I prefer spring when all the raining is done..

I hate heat and high humidity or heat and dryness.

Vegas is NOT my kinda town.. I would get fried very quickly.

It feels warmer here when we have had a cloud cover and still get some sun rays coming through..

I am no meteorologist but my lifetime friend who just moved to Moose-a-sota from Alaska is one. He was in the Navy.

All I can say is that in winter out here, when the clouds go away, grab your coat. Just look at our forecast. The 18th is both the sunniest and coldest day. That's typical.

The issue may be that cloudless days tend to come with cloudless NIGHTS.

That first line came from the previous posting - which is why I bracketed it with '>>>'

The rest of what you typed is what I been saying - in wintertime (or the arctic) clear days and nights tend to be colder than cloudy days and nights.

And am I the only one who has noticed that on hot summer days . . . cloud cover tends to cool the air near the ground?

(And a look at your chart - Thursday 20 - temperature 19 degrees and cloudy with snow showers . . )
