I gotta tell ya that I find nothing wrong with asking what someone in the employ of an organization of any type give a brief descriptor of what they actually did to earn their income.
My father had to do this once a month at General Electric Evendale plant when he was there many years ago. I had to do this before I became the head of a corporation. Even as manager of an engineering group.
So its not unheard of nor uncommon.
Did I like it? Nope. It wasted my time and the results of my department and group were easily seen and up on a wall in the hallway outside my office in the form of a large graph as to how much money we had saved the company with improvements and changes of production methods and techniques.
I did over a million and a half dollars the first year alone.
SO accountability has been around for a very long time..
