Without a doubt. They will need to have a solid understanding of what they're changing. The ability to coerce a cell to replicate the modified virus will have to be eliminated. I don't know if that's possible since it may be a function of the cell, not the virus. I'm not a biologist so I don't know.

I read that - and have but one thought - the word phrasing describing the research deserves a "Golden Fauci" award for talking about GAIN OF FUNCTION RESEARCH in positively glowing terms, without calling it exactly what it is.

Pretty damn dangerous ground being broken, imo.
