Re: “Progress doesn’t stop just because your personal status was altered in the “last few years.”
Progress? Heh... I hope you aren't going liberal! Progress isn't something that should be declared by some unseen power. Individuals have to see it and declare it for themselves. It's subjective.

After what you've read here, do you suppose Zimbler, ribit, micro or I would call Windows 10 or 11 an improvement over what came before? 11 is newer but, clearly, more discussion is needed before we're going to agree that "newer" necessarily means "better." Or is this one of those "the science is settled" things?

Twenty years ago I could go into MS Paint and right a crooked photo by turning it 1°. Or 2°. Or 17°. Then, maybe ten years ago, a new version of Windows came out and that feature (along with a bunch of others) vanished, never to return. If Paint still has customizable rotation, please tell me how. Or should I just spend $100 every few years on new software that can do what the old stuff did for free and delight in being able to move folders back and forth by touching the screen? If so, "Le progrès, c'est nul."

De,

[The Luddite you may think you're speaking to today has only started being that way in the last few years]

Progress doesn’t stop just because your personal status was altered in the “last few years.” Someone retired from IT should be the last to expect technology to freeze in place for their personal benefit. That’s just weird. Unplug that machine from the Interwebs and maintain your steam-powered shitshow as long as you want, and you’ll have what you paid for.

Ain’t none of mine. The Bobber fits my ass nicely. I like bikes I can flat-foot. Don’t know about long trips. To be clear, I have a bike now. It’s not something I was doing when I was twenty.
