I vaguely remember the computers. I don't remember the OS's on them.

Were they laptops or desktops? And which operating system?

Yes, using AOMEI to copy a drive, then install on another computer does have driver issues. But my experience has been that the machine will still run . . well enough to install drivers. (Go to the manufacturer, see if the computer in question has drivers available for the intended OS on their machine. Download them.)

Don't want AOMEI to touch the OS and driver files? Don't need AOMEI for that. Just a USB stick or an external drive, copy the files off one computer and copy them onto the target computer. I dunno about 'copying' programs off the old computer and re-installing them on the target computer.

One of the things I learned back when I was working . . . For critical systems . . . (Or an all important Books database) . . . Make a 'backup' of the hard drive of the computer. Store it on an external drive. If the hard drive goes Ploooey . . Replace the bad hard drive with a new one, boot off an AOMEI boot stick and 'restore' the hard drive image to the new drive. Same computer, all data.

(It does help if one gets a spare drive, downloads AOMEI, and plays with it enough to get comfortable.)

The more important a computer or data is . . . the greater the need to have a backup and recovery strategy and the practice to implement it.

AOMEI can clone one drive to another drive. It can do a System Backup, a Disk Backup, or a Partition Backup. One can create bootable media - such as a CD/DVD or a USB drive.

Zim.
