I see one mistake, but it's pretty big. What we're talking about is a one-time 20% price increase, on average, ON IMPORTED GOODS. Goods made here at home won't suffer that fate.

Meanwhile, companies overseas will be moving their manufacturing to the U.S. in droves.

The end result from all this will be really good for the United States. Can you imagine what would have happened here if we'd gotten into a major world war with most of the products on which we depend being manufactured abroad? Some manufacturing takes a GENERATION to get up to speed. Thus, we were incredibly vulnerable. That's one of the many things about the tariffs that leftists do not understand. Another is that we are currently in a better position to withstand the adverse effects than most of our trading partners are. I think we're going to see enormous concessions being made by many of them.

If I understand correctly, what we are talking about is, perhaps, a 20% ONE TIME price increase, on average , worse case. In return for that, we get back tens of millions of higher-paying factory jobs, and our wealthy middle class. 20% may sound like a lot, but in fact it is LESS than what we have suffered over the last 2 years, alone, in terms (of completely useless) inflation effects. So, I don't understand the drama--except for the parasites and Wall Street grifters. It does require dramatic change; but the boat we have been on for the last 50 years is sinking fast, in any case. Doing this now, voluntarily, is like choosing to get off the Titanic before it hits the iceberg.

IF Trump can somehow use the "External Revenue Service" to substantially replace the income tax on those earning ORDINARY income (not stock gambling) below $150k/year...well, that would likely give the US the wealthiest middle-class in the world. In doing that, I would expect it to rebuild our wasted cities, our common pride, our infrastructure, etc. Just about everything which has been lost over the last 50years of 'Democrat"+"Republican" grift and sucking up to corporations would seem likely to reverse direction.

The key word here is "Autarky", and it is the strategy Russia (and to a considerable extent China) has used to make itself, again, one of the global superpowers in just over 10 years (starting from when the US-filth-agents overthrew an elected government in Ukraine, pretty-much forcing Russia to take back ITS Crimea, and leading us to where we are today). Autarky is good for the nation which can successfully pull it off. But it requires great leadership, no tolerance for corruption, and -- of course -- the resources and CULTURE willng to walk that manly road. It is not a good strategy for a culture which coddles hedonists and the mentally weak: the mentally and spiritually ill.

It also suggests you stop wasting money and lives on foreign military adventurism; those resources are better spent doing constructive things with payback...such as enforcing borders.
