Zim, another option would be for Ukraine to acknowledge the captured lands as lost PROVIDED they become independent, neutral, border states - not part of Russia.

Why would Russia maybe agree to this? Tthat is where the concessions and creative negotiations come in.

I think an economic/trading alliance between the US and Russia would benefit both countries enormously. And, as I already said, it would put a substantial damper on Chinese expansion. (which would be a huge benefit to the US and to the world).

What do you think of that?

Of course Ukraine is 'toxic'. And there needs to be a severe auditing of what was sent to Ukraine . . . and, I believe, a good many politicians and others jailed over fraud and stealing related to Ukraine.

Yes, we are facing an 'existential crisis' . . . But Ukraine is not it. Ukraine is more like a boil on our butt. Russia is not the big bad boogie man it used to be . . . But the Euroweenies need to recognize their peril and make Ukraine their problem.

If I was Trump . . . What I would do is give Ukraine more long range weaponry and tell them to hammer more of Russia's oil industry and their railroads. Then I'd tell Putin that he can either make a sweet deal for peace with Ukraine or I'll give them MORE long range weaponry so they can do to Russia what Russia has been doing to Ukraine.

After that I'd advise Putin that he needs to start thinking about the possibility of China seizing the eastern part of Russia. (Would you like to be my friend and maybe I'll help you with your China problem?)

But job one needs to be to make every dollar the government spends auditable. And investigate just where a LOT of 'We The Peoples' moneys have been going the last decade or two. And prosecute the thieves and fraudsters who have been stealing U.S. blind.

First get our financial house in order. Get our manufacturing capabilities back. And reduce our debt load.
