I weighed 225 four years ago. Went on a low carb diet.
No sugar
No potatoes
No bread
No pasta
No wheat

Tried to keep my carb. To less than 50 a day.
Over the period of about a year I lost 45 pounds. Walked 3-5 miles a day.
225 to 180.
I now cheat a lot on the carbs and have gained 15 - 20 pounds back. I go up and down 5 pounds in a couple weeks.
Still don’t use sugar
Still don’t eat any bread
No potatoes
Sometimes pasta.

Try getting some Monk fruit sugar replacement. Looks just like sugar almost taste the same.

I also fast from 6:00 pm until 12:00 noon
Eat a lot of fish and meat and eggs.
Read up on Keto diet and low carbs and glucose and Ketones.
Lots on UTube.

I'm going to try dieting for 90 days to see if I can drop some pounds and lower my cholesterol... maybe improve my liver function. After 4 days, I've lost two pounds. That's not impressive, but I've been cheating - finishing off a large pot of corned beef&cabbage&potato. It's now gone so maybe the weight loss will accelerate.

The diet amounts to eliminating as much fat, salt, carbs and sugar (carbs) as I can. I bought a bag of sucralose at the store the other day, so eliminating direct uses of sugar (tea and coffee, mostly) will be easy. So far, I've been eating lots of oatmeal, bean burritos and frozen broccoli. I'll be adding minestrone soup and sweet potatoes, neither of which are great for carbs, but oh well. And salad, of course. At the moment we're out of lettuce.

Except for the burritos, I'm not a fan of ANY of this. But for 90 days, I should be able to stick it out. It's easier than fasting.
