trust me that ANY starches turn to sugar inside the body. eating tons of oatmeal AIN'T good for ya either.

Lean PROTEINS are great. Carbs are bad. CArbs turn to sugar in the body.

Eat what ya like but simply eat LESS at a time. Cut back about a third.. You'll be surprised. One day a week treat yerself to something ya like for a dessert. Sugar free frozen yogurt is really good. Think Sweet Frog..
Diet blends. Yummy.....

I've fought weight battles for decades and mostly got control of it..

Her's the thing I discovered. At my really good weight at around 175 I am a fighting machine like in the Corps. Trying to stay there because of my physical issues and heart is hard because I do not burn off calories due to inactivity..

Eat a little less of what you like. Do some things to burn some calories daily. You'll be surprised how that works and make water your best friend to drink. Some non-calorie squirt flavors you add to it will make it easier to drink....

Good luck on a worthy project!

I'm going to try dieting for 90 days to see if I can drop some pounds and lower my cholesterol... maybe improve my liver function. After 4 days, I've lost two pounds. That's not impressive, but I've been cheating - finishing off a large pot of corned beef&cabbage&potato. It's now gone so maybe the weight loss will accelerate.

The diet amounts to eliminating as much fat, salt, carbs and sugar (carbs) as I can. I bought a bag of sucralose at the store the other day, so eliminating direct uses of sugar (tea and coffee, mostly) will be easy. So far, I've been eating lots of oatmeal, bean burritos and frozen broccoli. I'll be adding minestrone soup and sweet potatoes, neither of which are great for carbs, but oh well. And salad, of course. At the moment we're out of lettuce.

Except for the burritos, I'm not a fan of ANY of this. But for 90 days, I should be able to stick it out. It's easier than fasting.
