We don't talk about the Ukraine shame very much; maybe thinking no news is good news? I argued years ago, on this board, that the US is losing a tremendous amount of prestige with every "war" it participates in. Even BACKING a side in a war, and then that side not winning DECISIVELY, erodes belief in US weapons, strategy, and moral leadership.
And, truthfully, any "empire" which is not fully committed to dying to the last man ought to be getting out of the empire business and building itself up internally. And then, of course, if we can't afford to fix our own infrastructure, clean up our own cities, get rid of our own homeless-encampments, nor conduct any real science any more, maybe we ought to get a clue?
So we have had the worst of all worlds since approxmiately WW2. In every war we didn't win DECISIVELY we lost a piece of world respect and, certainly, awe.
IMO, Trump made a major mistake not simply disavowing Ukraine as BIDEN'S (Democrats) Ukraine PROXY WAR. And he should have played up the massive, massive, massive financial money-laundering and "color-revolution" filth/ activity of the Democrats in Ukraine.
I'm really worried he is just about out of time to get out of Ukraine without it being judged HIS mistake, his war, his loss. And ours.
I am also going to go out on a limb a bit -- but fully confident of eventually being proved correct -- that Russia is probably going to capture Kiev and Odessa within the next year to 18 months. If so, any and all western parties which stick with Ukraine are going to lose massive face around the world.
The US isn't prepared to fight to the last American. We are desperately need of saving all our money and energy and remaining prestige to rebuild ourselves economically, and morally/patriotically, at home.
Russia is much more of that mindset. Further, it pulled itself out of its "Leninist"/Socialist delusions decades ago and has -- demonstrably -- been focussing on building itself up, internally, since then. It has rebuilt its economy. It has rebuilt its infrastructure. It has rebuilt its status as a Christian nation. It has rebuilt its moral self-respect. It isn't fighting an internal civil war with a "Demon-Rat" party. And it has lately rebuilt its military to make itself, once again, a world military power to be respected. It is not overextended. It is not indebted. You may not like the reality; but those are the realities.
And, yeah, as I said years ago quite clearly, it was REALLY stupid of the US Democrats to weaponize the USD. We had troubles enough before shooting ourselves in our own head six times.
Who is it serving for the US to continue to overextend around the world? China, China, China. Get a clue, people. It is CHINA. The politicians and billionaires who did the most to move our industrial base to CHINA are no friends of the United States. Or, with friends as stupid as that, who needs enemies?
Can we all agree, at least, on that? Stop doing what China -- and the Democrats -- want. Instead, let's actually Make America Great Again, by putting 99% of our effort into building up our own health and economy. WW2 and the USSR ended a LONG time ago. The US can take a lot of credit for those battles. But now we need to change direction and look to the future. Clean up our own act and stop cosplaying the Avengers.
