China United Telecommunications (China Unicom), the only WCDMA operator in China, plans to procure more than one million tablet PCs and develop own-brand smartphone series, WoPhone, in 2011, according to company president Lu Yi-min.
China Unicom aims to increase the total number of subscribers by 35 million in 2011 and 25 million of them will be of 3G users, Lu said during a visit in Taiwan on April 11.
