Asia tumbles as growth fears ratchet up

SYDNEY (MarketWatch) — Asian shares tumbled Thursday morning, after some very weak U.S. data dented confidence in the trajectory of global economic growth.
Japan’s Nikkei Stock Average dropped 1.8% to 9,555.67, while South Korea‘s Kospi fell 1.4% to 2,111.73.

Exporters were hard-hit, with Fanuc Ltd. down 3% in Tokyo, and Samsung Electronics Co. down 2.4% in South Korea.
