Decomp,
Thank you.
I'm sorry you lost your sister sooo young.
No, not the teacher, she's the youngest 51.
Melanie left two children & a granddaughter turned 3 since her death. She remarried 8 years ago, her first husband died in his early 30's.
No will...
I was shocked, she was very organized & I often discussed my wishes & having a will with her.
I am the only sister without a husband, so I want my wishes known by the family.
So far it looks like the division will be somewhat fair. He wants 50,000 off the top, then they divide it 3 ways.
Personally, I think he has some nerve asking for the 50,000, this home is my sister's it was paid for without his money. And most of their marriage he did NOT work. He had a little money when they married. My sister worked. They did not live lavishly.
But apparently without a will, the "husband" would legally get 50% & the children would get 25% each.
Our mother is alive & she was her favorite. Melanie was the quietest & lived closest.
Now I visit twice a week, lifts her spirits & I can do chores to help. She is married, he is 15 years younger & still works.
Life is too short, that's why I try to enjoy the journey, daily. clo
