Mac Pro (3.1) Wireless Liftoff!
I ordered the BCM94321MC 802.11b/g/n wireless card a while back, came yesterday, all of $30 via eBay, so this evening was the challenge of installing it.. Oooh, fun!
I was surprised at how small the actual card was, so getting it in place with my big mitts was a challenge.
Holding it in place while getting at least one screw in place was the next! The tiny screws, well I got lucky, a scrapped iBook yields a variety and a couple 2.5mm screws did the trick.
Pulling the tiny little coax cables, connectors from behind the main circuit board was fun, too, but I have a selection of tools, a spudger with a hook on one end eased it out..
Deciding to go with a posting saying cables 1 & 2 work best, the next challenge was to rotate and place them on the upper and lower jacks. That took a good 20 minutes, a cramp in my hand didn't help.. But eventually both were in place, screws tight, so close it up, fire it up...
I had to be configured via Network Preferences, the Assist me walked right through, and it was up and running..
Piece of cake!
