De, Now that's a good way to do it.
Not sure about the punks, as everyone called them when I was a kid. But they always said light one and carry it around when we were down the beach/pond, which were a stones throw from each other. The pond wasn't real boggy, but had a stand of cat-tails. Guess there had to be some standing water in there, though.
Are you sure of that? It seems to me that the bogs with cattails are usually precisely where I find the most mosquitos!
There ARE, by the way, plants that attract mosquitos. One of the recommended ways to rid large properties of mosquitos is to plant a certain tree on which they like to light. Periodically, you spray poison on the tree and kill all its inhabitants...
