OCU,
I know your family is living each moment with a heavy heart. This granddaughter lives close to you, a blessing.
Today after the gym I went to the grocery store. I ran into Tracy, a woman in her early 40's, also a member of the gym. She & her husband tried for many years to have children. Finally a little over a year ago they had twins, a boy & girl, with invetro.
Adorable children, she brings them to the gym & uses the nursery care they offer.
In May she learned she has cancer, a rare 1 in 3 million type. A mass that has attacked her liver & kidney and some other parts. A slow grower that she has had for many years.
I was having difficulty taking this in.
She is going to Mt Sini in NYC & has had one chemo treatment so far, which is having some success. But it's early & she has low expectations since the diagnosis is very grim.
Her Mom moved in to help with the children, or they would have lost the house if they had to pay for childcare, (in case she doesn't survive) plus, her energy wanes by early afternoon.
She's wondering why, after all these years she had her children, if she has to die & leave them.
She is on antidepressents, I think that's why she was able to be soo open with me (we were casual friends, didn't even know each others names, until today) yet she seemed to get relief from sharing this with me.
We hugged each other, smiled about not knowing our names till today.
Life is very strange, sometimes we touch people & other times we are touched. The gift is being there for others, in good times & difficult times. clo
DO SOMETHING!
