With Rick Perry, governor of Texas, entering the presidential race this week, the media is beginning to focus in on him. Perry was born poor in Paint Creek, Texas, a hole in the road with not even one stop sign. He was once a Democrat and was coaxed into the Republican party by a man named Karl Rove.
CNN interviewed some people from Paint Creek. One of the interviewees was a middle aged black woman in a plain free flowing dress who made this simple statement: Rick Perry didn't do anything for Paint Creek, how is he going to do anything for the nation?
My own enduring memories of Rick Perry are the political cartoon that OCU posted one time of Perry dragging a woman by a store that had federal aid as she portrayed a state agency that so desperatly needed it for needy children in Texas. The other memory is the time that Perry held a press conference to announce that while he had been out on an early morning run he and his dog had encountered a wild animal--a coyote--that had attacked the dog. Perry pulled a concealed handgun that he had on his person out and shot the coyote dead in its tracks. We had no real objection with him shooting an animal that was attacking he or his dog. however, to hold a press conference to brag about it!!!!!!!
Perry has mentioned the possibility of Texas leaving the United States before back in 2009 and he brags about not taking any federal aid if it has any strings attached. This year, he has complained bitterly that the federal government did not send enough help when his state faced all of the wildfire threats that it has faced.
One wag has noted that Perry prayed fervently for an end to the Texas heat wave and drought with not any current result. And, that he prayed at his recent prayer and fasting meeting in Houston for relief from the financial crisis the weekend before the market faced the downgrade market fall off of over 600 points the following monday.
There are those who say that Perry will unite the Tea Party with christian conservatives and big business in a confrontation with Obama and the current
White House.
God help us all!!!!!!

Joe
To say that "God exists" is the greatest understatement ever made across space and time.
