On the radio last night during the drive-time it was noted that these 'pay-per-view' town hall meetings, some of which are being held in taxpayer supported facilities, like public school auditoriums or city libraries, were only being held by Republicans. There were NO reports that any Democrat anywhere was doing the same. And the reporter who was commenting on this (who BTW worked for the Wall Street Journal, owned by News Corp, so if there was a story there that would make the Dem's look bad, you know they would be reporting on it) said that in order to make sure that he didn't miss anyone that he went to a publicist working for the GOP assuming that if there were any Dems holding these sort of events that they would be quick to tell the reporter about it and they could NOT come up with a single example, which he said confirmed his own people's research.

Should lawmakers appear at town-hall-style events that charge admission?

Yes - A host group should be free to charge whatever fee it wants to. 9%
