An Order of Protection is a worthless piece of paper, IMO. It's not bullet-proof, knife-proof, or fist-proof. If someone is intent on committing a crime already, why would they care about violating that protection order, too? Short answer - they don't.

One of our local banks has "Firearms Prohibited" prominently displayed on their entry door. They were robbed multiple times a few summers ago - at gunpoint. Fat lot of good that "Firearms Prohibited" did them. The sign did nothing to stop someone already intent on committing a crime.

What is the point of rules that are not enforced?

Riana,

HOW does this happen...

I would have thought, with the charges against this man he would be held, or at least the bail would have been steep enough to keep him confined.

I don't know what the stats are on 'Orders of protection' in these cases.
I do know, they have little effect on most men, when they are the spouse...
