Well, personally I came into town for school, in fact clear back to the 50s, it was a bus ride, but my family mostly went to coop nurseries, kindergartens, and on to parochial schools where in fact as parents we were involved as were other relatives in that same game, covering sports as coaches, bingo nites, dances, and all of it... Now we're again a distance from our grandkid's schools but manage in several ways to support them and their programs... So don't go whining to me about who;s going to do well... All are heading into or have graduated college, and we're supporting all that as well.. It never ends, education, that is... Even our own...

Weco:

Teaching kids responsiblity, how to work a little bit (during school hours), and hopefully take some pride and ownership of their school is too complicated.

You wouldn't do well at our co-op schools where both the kids and their parents are required to pitch in. Of course, we don't don't have oodles of money to waste on our schools.
