This may explain why Mitt is doing his best to limit the number of tax returns that he releases: eventually we'd get to one where he paid NO taxes whatsoever:

If Mitt is the nominee, Obama will still be able to claim the 'high-ground' since when he was the nominee in 2008, he released 6 years of returns. And Mitt will still be open for comparison to his own father, George Romney, who was one of the first presidential candidates to ever release his tax returns, which in his case covered a period of 12 years and who also warned people that one should be skeptical of the most recent returns as they may have been 'optimized' with the idea in mind that they would soon be running for president.
