pdowd,

Wow. What an amazing thing to be able to tell your friends about (not to mention having as a memory!)

I'm a big 'Who' fan. In fact, I watched 'Tommy' with my son for the first time the weekend before last. He didn't want to watch it at first, but he downloaded it to his iPod a couple of days ago - so I guess he liked it!

'Boris the spider' (Creepy, Crawly!) is one of his favorite 'Who' songs. I doubt you could mention it to fifty people and find one who remembers it, but we know it well. (It's from 'My Generation' or 'Magic Bus,' isn't it??) In fact, my son was toying with the idea of performing it at his talent show this year, but that didn't materialize. Instead, they did 'The Logical Song': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjivkqutUbA (Don't laugh too hard, though. They're a bunch of 12 and 13 year olds. It was their first public performance, and they hadn't practiced much. Their drummer joined them the day before.)

The guitar Pete Townshend smashed might have been worth $10,000 today if it were intact . . . but it'd probably be worth twice that smashed! (With a certificate of authenticity, of course.) You should've grabbed it!

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

Thanks Decomposed...your son was great on "Martha My Dear" as usual!!!!!

That song (Night Owl) came out on the same label around the same time (Paula Records) as "Judy in Disguise" by "John Fred & the Playboys" which was a billboard #1 hit for a while. Our song did chart on Billboard, but more marketing dollars went to "Judy in Disguise" & we were just a neglected step child on that record label.

This same band with a different name (Debbie & the Ladds) opened for the "Who" in Baton Rouge for their 1st American tour with "Herman's Hermits"at Redemptorist High School stadium on July 26th, 1967.

I was lucky enough to get meet all of the members of the Who back stage & sit and play acoustic guitars with Pete Townsend.

At that time nobody really knew who they were in the US. I thought they were fantastic & couldn't believe that they destroyed & pretended to blow up their instruments at the end of their set.

Pete Townsend really did smash his 1965 Les Paul Special that night. Today that same guitar would be worth about $10,000.00.

They even sang a song about a spider (Boris the Spider)I was just 15 years old at that time!!
