These large banks aren't able to outcompete smaller banks in anything except their ability to respond to outrageous government regulations.

...would not surprise me to find out that the large banks were actually generating some of this legislation to keep down the competition. This ain't capitalism anymore sportfan.

It's more the behavior of crony monopolies. These large banks aren't able to outcompete smaller banks in anything except their ability to respond to outrageous government regulations.

Government is a monopoly. When it uses its powers to assist certain businesses to the detriment of other businesses, it's as far removed from CAPITALISM as it's possible to be. Why not just outlaw the small banks, then claim that capitalism did them in?
