Oh, clo.

You might actually believe bits of what you wrote, but I don't think you're sincere. Justice is the last thing you’re interested in. If you were interested in justice, you’d have backed off of this story a long time ago, acknowledging that the early information you’d received was garbaged up by the press and you didn’t have NEARLY enough to go on to form a fact-based opinion, much less one backed by any degree of certainty.

I haven't said this in a while, so I might as well get my disclaimer out the way:

I am not anti Trayvon Martin. Nor am I pro George Zimmerman. I actually consider them bit players in a fascinating political drama. Murders happen all too frequently in our country, and a fuss such as we've seen over this case is all out of proportion to the crime. So, it’s obvious that something else is afoot. You’d see that too, if you’d be honest with yourself.

In this case, the Press, the Left, and the Black Population have tried to capitalize on something they initially thought to be a race crime. It turned out to just be unimaginably bad reporting, but TPTB didn’t know that when they read it and decided to make THIS the star they’d hitch their wagons to.

Their decision has been a disaster. As facts emerged, the scumbags who blew this thing up started looking like bigger and bigger fools. Some of the comments by Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are simply UNBELIEVABLE. But the Left won’t back down. Joseph Goebbels once said “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.” And that is precisely what the Left is trying to do with this mess. Just keep repeating the lies. Some of them will eventually resonate . . . with some of the people. And that’s good enough.

Let’s review. Why did this story initially capture the public’s attention?

It was because of race. A hate crime! Good people despise hate crimes. But those who control the left actually love hate crimes because of the massive black constituency and the smaller white constituency who are riddled with guilt over the original sin of their ancestors’ slaver past. Just kidding about that, of course. No one feels guilty over things they had nothing to do with, but it sure makes for a nice marketing tool, doesn’t it?

Unfortunately, George Zimmerman turned out to be a minority too. #$%@!

An attempt was hurriedly made to blame the White policemen who improperly investigated the case. But they DID properly investigate the case. Florida has a ‘Stand Your Ground’ law that protects those who kill when in fear for their lives. The police did what they were supposed to do when the evidence supported an altercation survivor’s story.

And that stretegy never had much potential, anyway. The law was put in place because of some other tragedy that occurred because of the law’s absence.

An attempt was made now to paint George as a ‘White Hispanic’ (even though no one who saw him would ever mistake him for a white man.) Gotta try to get racism back into this story SOMEHOW, right?

On its heels, an attempt was made to turn some gutteral noises and random clicks on George’s cell phone into a racial slur. Of course, we have to modulate the base and do other funky stuff to supposedly make it sound like SOMETHING was said. And we have to ignore the fact that everything else that George said is easy to understand except for that ONE word. When we’re all done, we wind up with a story that the most wildly liberal members of the press say COULD be a racial slur. Uh… that’s not holding up.

Next, we might as well lie and claim that George was directed by the police to stay in his car. Or to stop following Trayvon. We’ve already discussed that, though. You apparently don’t care that it isn’t true since you’re still saying it. The truth, for those who didn't read the earlier thread, is that the police told George they didn’ NEED him to follow. Probably because it might be dangerous. As, indeed, it turned out to be.

I used to work in the central station for a major alarm company. That means I was locked up all night by myself, waiting for various types of alarms to go off. When they did, I’d take appropriate action.

Surprisingly, when burglar alarms went off, the appropriate action would often be to call the owners, not the police. Why? It was because the police would always scare the burglars away. They’d show up, and the bad guys would just run off through the back door. So the owners learned to get there first and guard the back until the police arrived. There would then be a decent chance of apprehending the bad guy.

George followed Trayvon because if he hadn’t, Trayvon would have been long gone. George was captain of the Neighborhood Watch. He’d called the police a LOT – because that’s what Neighborhood Watch captains do. As he said on the phone, he was frustrated that there’d been burglaries, and the suspects kept getting away.

This all makes sense. And, while the police can’t ask him to follow the bad guy, they also didn’t forbid him from doing so. Following the bad guy until they arrive HELPS – as the police I used to speak with frequently made all too clear. But, of course, they can’t say that. So they say they don’t NEED it to be done and leave the rest implied. The simple fact is, George Zimmerman had a greater interest in keeping his neighborhood safe than the police did. Hence, he followed Trayvon.

Witnesses suggest that George has told the truth. He was certainly in a fight. Trayvon was probably beating the crap out of him. And he pulled a gun.

That’s what I think happened. Perhaps you still don’t, but if you claim you can strike down what I just said, I’d be astonished.

And that brings us back to where we began. This was supposed to be a hate crime based on race. It probably isn’t, but you folks don’t want to let go. Why not? Non-hate-crimes are a dime a dozen. Given all the distortions and flat-out LIES the liberal left have been caught spreading in order to score a few political points, shouldn’t you just tuck your tail between your legs at this point and admit that you were wrong?

Neither of us knows what happened. But we do know that there’s not enough evidence to make a VALID hate crime case. There still might be room for an INVALID hate crime case – which will be a second tragedy for George Zimmerman, if it happens, and I think that there’s a real possibility that it will.

But given that we don’t know, doesn’t an honest person drop the story at this point and let the police and court system do its job?

If the story DOESN’T fade, doesn’t that paint a disgusting portrait of the politics at work today?

Think about it.

Zimmerman claimed Trayvon attacked him from behind, yet Trayvon is killed with a bullet in his CHEST...
After knowing this area soooo well, WHY did he need to step out of the truck to know which street he was on?

Police arrival

When the police arrived, they reported finding Martin face-down and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound in the chest. The police report states that they attempted CPR, paramedics arrived and continued CPR, finally declaring him dead at 7:30 p.m. Statements by the police say Zimmerman had grass on his back and his back was wet. Zimmerman was bleeding from the nose and the back of the head; subsequently his lawyer stated that Zimmerman's nose was broken.[58][59] The police report does not indicate that Zimmerman required medical attention. Zimmerman asserted self-defense, telling police he had stepped out of his truck to check the name of the street he was on, when Martin attacked him from behind as he walked back to his truck. He said he fired the semiautomatic handgun because he feared for his life.[60] Martin was unarmed, and was carrying a bag of Skittles candy and a can of Arizona brand iced tea.[60][61]

An eyewitness to the physical altercation just prior to the shooting stated that Martin was on top of Zimmerman and beating him up, while the older man yelled for help.[62][63] Another witness, Mary Cutcher, believes "there was no punching, no hitting going on at the time, no wrestling" just prior to the shooting, though she neither saw the shooting nor the preceding altercation.[64] The police say she gave an official account to them that agreed with Zimmerman's story.[65][66]

Cutcher and her roommate told CNN journalist Anderson Cooper that their own account of the incident to the police did not agree with Zimmerman's, and that they had demanded that the police retract that incorrect statement. They also said, about the police's attitude at the scene, that "they were siding with him [Zimmerman] from the start" and that they heard the pair in their backyard and a "very young voice" whining, with no sounds of a fight. They heard a gunshot; the crying stopped immediately, and they saw Zimmerman on his knees pinning Martin down on the ground.[67]

Immediately following the shooting, Trayvon Martin's body was transported to the morgue and was tagged as a John Doe.[68] It was identified as Trayvon after 3 days. Trayvon's family criticized the police department for not identifying their son more quickly, and for not asking neighbors if they recognized Trayvon, who had been staying with his father in the gated community.[69] David Horsey also criticized police for failing to check his cell phone to find someone he knew.[70]
