Decomp,
We know George was armed, he was told not to pursue Trayvon. Trayvon had skittles & iced tea & had every right to be in that neighborhood, his dad & his girlfriend were staying there. Trayvon was on the phone with his girlfriend from the time he was in the store until the confrontation occurred.
Trayvon is dead.
IMO, if tables were turned & George was dead, evidence would have been taken & Trayvon would have been taken in for questioning & probably booked.
Florida's law, 'stand your ground' needs to be overturned. The way its written the onus is on the police to prove the person who claims self defense lied & when the other person is dead you are getting one persons account, unless there are credible witnesses.
IMO, when there is a dead person, certain steps should be mandatory, such as;
secure the scene, take pictures of the people involved, drug & alcohol test the parties, take statements, check cell phones for calls, check for gunpowder residue when a gun is involved.
From the reports, the police did not do these. Without this basic evidence, how can this case go to trial?
And THAT is my complaint.
I seek justice, that doesn't mean finding George guilty.
How we get there from here, without that evidence is beyond me.....
