Vgolf,

I think what Shuffles is concerned about is the fact that if his e-mail file gets too large, there is indeed a tendency for it to get corrupted. I know I have experienced this with Outlook at work and we are advised by our IT department to be aware of this tendency and to watch the size of our folders and keep them under 500 meg.

Shuffles - I know how to create separate personal files in Outlook to help manage the size of my Outlook files, but I don't use Outlook Express so I don't know how or even if you can do that in Express. I bopped into Express for a couple of minutes to see if the same way would work, but I don't know if not having it set up affected what I could or couldn't do or not. But couldn't see a way to do there what I do in Outlook. I'll do some research this weekend and see if I can find the answer to that.

Sun :-)

shuffles,

most of the info I can fond on that issue are related to some type of corruption of the Outlook Express installation itself, and not something you can really be preventative about. The amount of mail should not be an issue, you are limited locally on your machine by hard disk space alone, and getting rid of mail would have nothing to do with this particular error.

The instructions you referenced are for trying to correct the issue, but have nothing to do with preventing it.

Best thing to do is make sure you have backups of your mail. If anything happens, you can uninstall Outlook Express, then reinstall it, and import your e-mail back into the new installation by way of those backups.
