Of course, *every* hurricane that makes landfall does so in a populated area these days...

For several years after Katrina, global-warming nuts were using it as evidence that hurricanes were growing stronger. They conveniently forgot that Katrina was only a THREE (on a hurricane scale that runs from one to five.) The devastation it caused was primarily due to its trajectory, not its power.

...the weather isn't any crazier than it's always been. It's just that we are getting better coverage because of the 24 hour news channels and satelites. Lots of hurricanse / tornadoes never got reported because no one saw em. More of the country was uninhabited. Hurricanes that didn't make landfall in a populated area were never heard of.
