Lost another one this weekend. An IT co-worker. I don't yet know the circumstances.
The curious thing is that in trying to find an internet story, I found his name in a 2005 message board discussion. It seems he'd had an accident in 2005 too - and broke his neck. He survived that time.
His wife, in 2005, posted "He broke the c-1 and c-4 vertebraes (spelling) and tore all the ligaments in his neck front and back. I know he really cares about you guys so I thought you should know. He was taken by helicopter to the hospital and will be getting surgery Friday."
However, I don't know if the 2005 story is about the same person. The name and location are right, and it's not a common name.
Life is short, and none of us get out alive. We all know that. But there are plenty of things people can do to make their lives considerably shorter. I think riding motorcyles on the same roads with automobiles falls into that category.
This is now the FOURTH motorcycle fatality among my acquaintences (and, as most of you know, I'm not a particularly sociable guy.) I hope my saying this doesn't jinx any of you.
