Farm tractors were running off propane 50 years ago. In the mid 1970's my friend who got me the job with Western Electric had an old tractor that ran on propane. His pickup also ran on propane or gasoline. He told me that to change from propane to gas he had to switch off the fuel and let the motor burn up what was left. Then he could switch on the other fuel and restart the engine. He said that if you just switched from one to the other, it would blow up the motor.
