Does it really do any good to point out opponents lies in a campaign?
Yes, because it is important for the facts to be known. I agree it does little good for the 40% or so who are fixed on either side. However, for the 9% or 15% or 20% or whatever that remain undecided (not that I'm sure any of them are here) it is important.
Why? Because we can't be making decisions to cut taxes "because they pay for themselves" when there is no evidence that they actually do pay for themselves. If it were that easy, all you would have to do is cut taxes and the deficit would magically disappear--you get higher revenues and higher growth. Unbelievable!
I posted the "Romney Lies Again" about a "normal recovery creating 500,000 jobs per month" because it is not normal at all for the American economy to create 500,000 jobs a month. It almost never happens, recovery or not.
A month ago, I saw Jack Welsh being interviewed. He was bragging about how great the economy was under Reagan. He said, "When Ronald Reagan was President, we were creating 1 million jobs per month."
I went and looked it up. It never happened. Not one time. Never. Yet, Jack makes up a ridiculous number and acts as though it happened every month. BS--straight from his keester. Yet, the journalist didn't challenge him--this was on the communist CNN, by the way.
So, yes, show me the lies from both sides. I realize there is a lot of grey area and weasel words, but if someone uses a specific number and says it is true, the first thing I am going to do is look it up and find out whether it is true or not.
