gas lines began in 1972. When Richard Nixon was President.

Nixon requested gasoline stations to voluntarily not sell gasoline on Saturday nights or Sundays; 90% of owners complied, which resulted in lines on weekdays.

They continued during the administration Gerald Ford, another noted liberal.

This scarcity was dealt with by rationing of gasoline (which occurred in many countries), with motorists facing long lines at gas stations beginning in summer 1972 and increasing by summer 1973.[26]

And yes, they continued when Jimmy Carter was President, thanks to the OPEC embargo which began - wait for it - three years before Jimmy Carter even announced for President.

Conservatives: can't read a map, can't read a calendar, apparently never read a book, must have slept through the past 50 years.
