It would have been much more accurate if it had been worded:
"More than half of US babies born are members of a minority."
I think the real problem that the white-Christian-bigoted wingnuts will have with this is that this reality alludes to the fact that they themselves are now, or will soon be, a 'member of a minority' and the image which this brings to their minds fills them with self-loathing and fear.
