And I'm sure that the Native Americans felt the same way. But being that I have four multiracial granddaughters (as well as old family stories as to exactly how 'colorful' my father's ancestors were) when I think of America I don't think of the idea of 'racial purity' as having played ANY positive role whatsoever in our society, no matter what some people would like to believe.

One doesn't have to be a bigot to be protective and proud of his own kind, be that American, white, Christian, male, veteran, homemaker, parent or whatever. We have a lot to be protective and proud of in this country. Hate to see it pissed away for no good reason.
