Chesapeake Energy Corp. (CHK) said it made a “significant” discovery in the Anadarko Basin of Texas and Oklahoma, where it owns about 30,000 net acres.
One well in the Hogshooter formation is producing the equivalent of about 7,000 barrels of oil a day, Chesapeake said in a statement today. Another well is producing about 1,400 barrels. The company expects to drill at least 65 more wells in the Hogshooter area during the next few years.
