...I was comin home from Camp LeJeune NC one week end. Had a car full of guys with me. We stopped in a little town in SC to get sumpin to eat. One of the guys with us was black. This waitress came up to us and said she would be glad to get lunch for the rest of us but that they didn't serve N* there.

Before I thought, I said, "He ain't no N* He's a Marine. They made us all leave then. The black guy laughed all the way to Atlanta.

reminded me of something that happened years ago. I was talking to a black fellow about something I had just repaired. I told him I had to nigar rig it. That was a phrase I had heard and used all my life. To me it ment that I had used what was available and made it work.
