Ribit: We computer programmers were brilliant over the decades in writing our date routines. Although our programs couldn't handle the century change (see two-digit years), almost everyone employed logic that was simple to search out and correct, so major disruptions were avoided at reasonable cost. It was perhaps our most profitable project as we were widely (worldwide) considered to be experts, and had corrective systems ready to go. The hardware engineering proved to be even more simple. |
