Zimbler,

re: "But I am not sure I would define them as 'conservatives versus liberals'."

As I just told ktc, I at least attempted to define the terms. If you can improve upon them or provide different definitions you think are better, I'd like to see what you come up with.

My dictionary gives definitions of course, but they are too simplistic to be of much value to discussions here. There's a lot more to liberalism than "open-mindedness regarding traditional ways" and more to conservatism than "adherence to traditional methods or views."

On the other hand, it's easy to get so mired in the details that attempts to define the words turn into essays. I think that's the problem ktc encountered when he answered your question by telling us about what a standup guy his liberal golfing buddy is.

Decomposed,
I am not sure how to respond to your reply.

I agree that there are the folks who think that we
should go back to what the Constitution was . . .

And folks who think it is outdated.

But I am not sure I would define them as
'conservatives versus liberals'.

I can agree that far too many 'republicans' are,
in fact 'progressives' and need to be taken out and
shot.

Zim.
