While President Obama was being inaugurated the right-wing branch of the Republican party was LITERALLY meeting in secret to outline their plans to destroy the Obama presidency, even if it meant sabotaging the American economy if that's what it took to get the job done:
That's not at all an assumption you can make. Maybe if Obama wasn't so eager to surrender, the Repubs would be pressured to act properly. Obama had the bully-pulpit, and in my opinion rightness on his side. He was just too weak and hapless to take advantage.
