If a house rents for 1 percent or more of its purchase price, it's a decent investment property. I'd otherwise invest elsewhere.

I hope your daughter knows that she's lucky to have such a good dad.

This a bit different. #2 daughter has chronic health problems. #1 daughter wants her to have a house next to her should #2 become incapacitated or needy in any way. #2 is very bright, has scoped out the property, and asked (told) me to buy it. It's a decent investment property in any case, so it's a done deal.
