I do not remember the rates . . .
But, those years, include the last years of the
Nixon administration. And Inflation was a problem
for Nixon.

1975 was the exodus of U.S. forces from Vietnam.
(I believe most of the fighting had stopped a year
or two before.)

Nixon had also gotten U.S. on the Moon.

So, in the years you mentioned, the major budget
busters (and technology enhancers) were pretty much
slowing down. (Vietnam was ending and NASA was
scaling back.) Yes - those were pre-Carter.

Carter would have been elected 1976 . . .
And Carter accelerated the cut backs in NASA and
defense.

Carter is the one who'se regime is credited for
the term 'Stagflation'.

And there is good reason for it.
