Re: "It works"

It does? Is that why New York discontinued its COBIS program, started back in 2000 - after spending $45 million dollars, and not providing evidence in a single gun-related crime.

Not to say it couldn't happen, of course - even a broken clock is right twice a day. But I think there are better ways to spend taxpayer money than by implementing programs like microstamping, which at the moment, will do nothing but drive businesses and related commerce out of the state.

If the science behind it were more reliable, I might feel differently.

New York may not like guns, but I bet Albany doesn't hesitate to cash those income tax payments from Remington and Kimber, not to mention payments from the various Federal Firearms Licensees in the state.

What is the point of rules that are not enforced?

Blah blah blah. It works, and because it is not perfect doesn't mean it shouldn't be one.

Also: "An article on Wednesday about laser technology used to engrave a microscopic numeric code on the firing pin and breech face of a firearm that is then transferred to ammunition described incorrectly the way in which a stamped code appears after the gun is fired. It is imprinted on the shell casing and on the primer, not just on the casing. A picture caption also described incorrectly the transfer of the numeric code from the firing pin. It is transferred to the primer, not to the casing."
