DGPeddler,

I might be mis-remembering this . . .
But I seem to remember - after my two years of college
at Tidewater Community - finding one of my Mom's
high school text books . . and thinking how advanced
it was compared to what I had learned in college.

(But it could also have been something else.)

DGPeddler,

re: "I quickly found out that most of those classes were beloe the level I had in high school."

Junior Colleges *do* have remedial classes. No doubt about that. They also have advanced ones. I find it hard to believe that your statement above is true if only because the scope of the courses available at the junior colleges I've seen go far beyond those in any normal high school.

I attended Junior College for 3 semesters when I was a kid, then transferred to a university as a Junior. That speaks pretty well for the Junior College, I think.

I also attended Junior college this last Spring and took 11 units. (clo actually faulted me for doing so, though I haven't yet figured out her "logic.") I *might* agree with you that the classes have become easier over the years - but the comparision would be apples and oranges. Different courses... different colleges... different states... different hours (night classes versus day)... and even a substantially different ME. Those all might play a role in why I found going to school as a not-so-young guy to be much easier.
